Darren Alexander is from North Toronto. He studied creative writing as an undergrad at York University, and then completed his M.Ed at the University of Victoria. Darren taught composition, communications and critical literacy courses in a variety of post-secondary institutions for 25 years. He has also pursued a variety of creative work, including writing and directing several plays, directing short documentaries for several media companies, exhibiting film photography focused on street protests at galleries in Toronto and in BC, and training youth in digital storytelling. In 2020, Darren transitioned to full-time work in online education.

Suzanne Alexander grew up in a small town in Washington State, where her parents owned and operated a used bookstore. She spent much of her childhood reading her way through various sections of the bookstore, from old sci-fi to baseball history, and published her first piece of writing at age eight in a children's magazine. Suzanne received a BA in American Studies from Oberlin College and an Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma from Ryerson University in Toronto. She taught in and directed preschool and alternative school programs for 18 years, in Northern Ireland, Toronto, and British Columbia. In 2020, Suzanne began teaching writing workshops to K-12 homeschool students, in-person and online.

Suzanne and Darren have two children and a tabby cat. They live in a 100 year old house in central Edmonton, Alberta.
